5 bodies found after plane crash near Bakersfield

A family friend confirmed to ABC7 News that the victims are Jason and Olga Price, along with their their two daughters and a son.

The FAA official added that the plane was flying from Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose and was headed to the Henderson Executive Airport in Nevada.

After arriving at the scene of the plane crash on Sunday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have begun their investigation into the cause of the crash, according to CNN. It sent out a mayday call before disappearing from radar.

“The aircraft is in a debris field…in an almond orchard, so it’s going to take a lot of footwork to conduct the investigation”, said Sgt. Mark King with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Debris was found 3-hours later.

Crews from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Kern County Fire Department all joined in the search and by 7:24 p.m., debris was found spread out across the area. The Kern County Sheriff-s Office-Coroner Division recovered the bodies Saturday and is in the process of identifying them.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether weather was a contributing factor, but light rain and mist were observed nearby at the time of the crash, said Cindy Bean of the National Weather Service in Hanford, Calif.

‘It typically takes the agency months if not longer to determine a probable cause for an accident’.
