Christie joins Trump on campaign trail, a day after endorsing him

Feb 28, 2016

In the debate Thursday in Houston, Rubio attacked Trump on immigration, foreign policy and hiring practices.

“Do we need a United States senator from Florida who doesn’t show up for work?” “He is undoubtedly the best person to beat Hillary Clinton, to restore jobs and American prestige around the world”. He suggested the development was “troubling news” for Rubio’s campaign, which had been courting the tough-talking New Jersey governor since he dropped his own presidential candidacy earlier in the month.

The endorsement of the New Jersey governor gives Trump, from neighboring NY, a lift ahead of next week’s crucial Super Tuesday nominating contests.

In January, Christie slammed Trump for boycotting the Fox News presidential debate, saying that Trump was acting like a “13-year-old”. “Trump’s got the momentum…he’s about to walk away with this”.

To top off the Libya discussion, Trump insisted he’s never even discussed Libya before last night and he totally disagrees with the removal of Gaddafi – only to have a 2011 video surface where he discussed Libya and insisted Gaddafi should be removed.

Christie then said that “anybody can burn a building down, but not everybody can rebuild it”.

If Bernie Sanders gets the nomination Norporth says his model predicts Trump would win with 99 per cent accuracy.

The timing immediately following the debate, however, appeared to be a coincidence.

The foundation is based on victory in Florida, but with Mr Trump approaching an outright majority there – the Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday has him at 44pc – that is becoming an increasingly tenuous proposition.

But it was nonetheless the second time Christie has managed to tear down Rubio just as he was on the rise. Christie has grown deeply resentful of Rubio.

During a January event in New Hampshire, Christie called Trump one of the “carnival barkers of today”.

Christie insisted he and Trump had not discussed potential Cabinet appointments for the former federal prosecutor, who has been floated as a potential vice president, attorney general and secretary of the Homeland Security Department. In his Saturday comments, Rubio went after Trump in the most personal terms.

“I watched a part of his little act and he’s a desperate guy…He is not presidential material, I can tell you”.

By backing Trump, Christie became first major party figure – and someone considered a moderate Republican – to endorse the real estate magnate.

“I gotta tell you, Chris was so – wow, what he did. I am really proud to receive the support of the Governor and his family”, Trump said.

“I don’t care!” the girl screamed back. “I think it is time to take the mask off of this guy”, Rubio asserted.
