He pointed to Kasich’s work as governor and as Budget Committee chairman in the U.S. House of Representatives during the 1990s as evidence of a strong track record on fiscal issues.

And Kasich had the best favorability among likely Republican primary voters in his home state. Both men felt entirely ancillary to the proceedings – as though they were engaged in a different event than Trump, Rubio and Cruz were participating in.
On security matters, Kasich called for a more aggressive strategy targeting the Islamic State and opposed President Barack Obama’s plan to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.
