Liverpool got their 16:30 kick off underway after Mohamed Salah put his side in front after just three minutes.

In a dramatic finale, Karius saved Kane’s penalty after he brought down the striker, paving the way for Salah to weave his way into the area before lifting a finish over Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris at the start of five minutes of stoppage time.

Dutchman Van Dijk, who was penalized for a challenge on Argentine worldwide Erik Lamela, felt the referee was tricked twice.

‘Second one, Van Dijk touches him but Lamela wants the touch and jumps 100 per cent, he feels the touch and it’s [given as] a penalty.

However, Kane edged back ahead of the Egyptian when he sent Karius the wrong way after Liverpool’s 75 million club record signing Virgil van Dijk was adjudged to have clipped Erik Lamela inside the area two minutes later. If I said what I think I would pay the biggest fine in world football. “But I think it is a dive”, Van Dijk said.

“I don’t know what they were discussing”. I made the decision to clear it as far as I could, and then it was a wonderstrike. We defended very well, had two penalties against us with a lot of question marks around them, but no one is going to talk about that.

Moss also awarded Spurs an injury-time penalty, which Kane scored to secure a 2-2 draw.

“I remember the first time we played against Arsenal – and even back then I had a chip on my shoulder”. I definitely felt contact and I went down.

“It was a roller coaster of emotions”. There were a couple of absolutely gorgeous goals (Salah’s second was a contender for goal of the season) and some truly frightful penalty calls from referee, Jon Moss, and his assistant. I’ve got the team down and get another one (penalty) and now I’ve got to step up again.

“In the first half, we didn’t get any free-kick in these situations”.

Everton striker Rooney was the special guest on Sky’s Monday Night Football, the day after Kane had joined him in the Premier League “100 club” and he was full of praise for the prolific Spurs hitman.

“I congratulate them to show the character they showed”, explained the Argentine as to why he had approached Moss at full-time. “The first one was essentially what I wanted to do, go down the middle”, he added. “Obviously, there are so many eyes on me but I am just keeping my head down and playing”.

With the camera following him, Kane hollered: “You can’t give me two tries”.
