There were no coalition airstrikes within 34 miles of the base, he said in a Tweet.

Damascus has repeatedly slammed the US-led coalition as ineffective and illegal, saying it can not uproot IS without coordinating with the Syrian government.

If confirmed, it would be the first coalition strike against Syrian government forces.

“The Syrian foreign ministry demands the UN Security Council act immediately in the face of this aggression and take appropriate measures to prevent its recurrence”, the letter added.

Four Syrian soldiers were killed and 13 injured when a bombing raid by the US-led coalition hit an army camp in the west of the country, a monitor said on Monday.

In addition to the casualties, it said the attack destroyed armored and other vehicles and a weapons and ammunition depot.

In what may have been an inadvertent attack, a jet believed to be from the coalition hit part of the Saega military camp in Deir al-Zor province, an area mostly held by Isis.

Antigovernment activists in the area have said that US strikes are typically carried out with the most precision.

“We’ve seen those Syrian reports, but we did not conduct any strikes in that part of Deir ez-Zor yesterday”.

Deir al-Zour province and land controlled by the group in Iraq link the de facto capital in Raqqa of Islamic State.

The coalition, however, says it “did not strike any vehicles or personnel targets in this area”.

A Qatar-based American military official says the U.S.-led coalition has no indication that the alliance aircraft killed Syrian troops in Syria.

The strikes “confirm once again that the American coalition lacks the seriousness and trust (needed) to fight terrorism in an effective way”, it said, according to SANA.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported air strikes there.
