Uber Passes ONE BILLION Rides

A Christmas Eve trip in London has given Uber its billionth ride.

Uber: California-based American worldwide transportation network company Uber Technologies said on Wednesday that it made its billionth trip for the global ridesharing service. Bear in mind that Uber started as a two-car operation in San Francisco in 2009.

New Delhi, Dec.31: Since it was launched in 2010, the auto service start up Uber has reached the one billionth ride.

A billion rides in five-and-a-half years is certainly a notable achievement. Thank you to Marvin and Ara – and everyone who has driven with or used Uber in the last few years – for making it happen.

Several other companies have copied its business model, a trend that has come to be referred to as “Uberification”.

“There are now millions of Uber trips a week in more than 360 cities across the world but London continues to be one of our most popular places”. By that time, rival company Didi announced a global partnership with Lyft, GrabTaxi, and Ola in fight against Uber.

For riding their way into the Uber history books, the company is rewarding them with one year’s worth of free rides in rides and the driver-partner will be taking a paid vacation by Uber to a city of his choice.

To celebrate where the momentous ride took place, Uber has kindly donated to Hackney Pirates – a charity which develops the literacy, confidence, and perseverance of young people aged 9-12.
